Letters to Myself: Entry Eight
Prompt: A reflection on the end of this summer?
Summer 2025 was a season I’ll never forget. One that truly changed my life for the better. It gave me space to build new habits, discover fresh passions, and even create my own little “game” of reflection, where I track the ways I’m growing each day. Looking back now, I see this summer as more than just a season of sunshine, it was a turning point. And as it comes to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect, let go, and carry its lessons forward.
Answer to the prompt:
This summer has been a whirlwind of emotions and change. A season of transformation I’ll carry with me for a long time. And now, as Minnesota shifts into its crisp fall air, I find myself needing to say goodbye to the warmth and light of summer, and hello to something new.
What makes this goodbye bittersweet is how much this season gave me. Summer 2025 was the time I finally took real steps toward growth. Especially in my mental health, my creativity, and my daily habits. I walked more this summer than ever before. I wrote consistently. I picked up my guitar and started playing, even if I’m far from good. I stood my ground in confidence, learned to be the bigger person, and stopped letting others take advantage of me. Each small decision became part of a larger shift. A new motto, a new life unfolding.
Letting go of summer means reflecting on everything it taught me. And what it taught me most is that progress is everywhere if you choose to see it. Every walk logged, every journal entry written, every healthy meal, every kind choice, every moment of saying “no” when it mattered, these are victories worth documenting. Because progress doesn’t just show up in big milestones. It’s built in the daily steps.
I’ll miss the warmth, the sunshine, and the still evenings by the water. But I know fall offers its own reflections. Its crisp air invites us to reset, to prepare, to grow in quieter ways. And winter will bring yet another chance to see life from a new perspective.
Life is always changing. Seasons end, and new ones begin. But each transition gives us a chance to start fresh. Saying goodbye to summer isn’t the end. It’s simply the beginning of the next chapter.
So I remind myself: people may try to bring you down, especially when you’re working on getting stronger. Don’t let their words sink in. Let them sharpen your confidence instead. You are stronger than you think.
One breath.
One step.
One conversation at a time.
